The Church That Cares For Your Soul
A Bad Attitude

A Bad Attitude

Sometimes we have a bad attitude when someone does not pull their weight when we are trying to get something done. The same is true of the work of the Lord.

Matthew 20:12-14  Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.  But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?  Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.

A Bad Attitude

Sometimes we have a bad attitude when someone does not pull their weight when we are trying to get something done.  The same is true of the work of the Lord.  A few people usually do most of the work in the church.  Some have borne the burden and heat of the day while others stand by.  That is not the case of this story here though.  There were some people who did not know there was a job to be done.  They just showed up at the wrong time late in the day to accomplish the task at hand.  It was really wrong for this young man to have a bad attitude toward the situation at hand.  He did not really understand what the master was doing.  Often we think we understand why leadership in the church makes certain decisions but in reality we really don’t have a clue.  This was the case of this young man.

All Need to Be Saved

The real picture was the master is a type of the Lord.  He was not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.  Some people get saved later in life than others.  They have a few more scars and have not likely borne the heat of the day like some.  But that does not negate the big picture.  The Lord is looking for sinners to work in His field at all times of the day.  The penny in this story represents salvation.  No matter where you are or when you come to the Lord, every body gets a penny.  Some do not earn more salvation than others.  It is a privilege to work for the Lord through a long life.  Getting saved late in life is great, but it would be better to come to the Lord as a young child.  So don’t have a bad attitude like this man in the story here.  You are really privileged to have lived a whole life for the Lord from sun up to sun down if you got saved early in life and don’t have as many scars as the one who worked one hour before sundown.
