The Church That Cares For Your Soul

A Committed Life

John 2:23-25. Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

A Committed Life

Man has always had a wicked heart.  There are many who came to Christ because of the “miracles” which he did.  They liked the carnal things; what they did not have was a commitment to live a holy life.  That may have been why Christ was unwilling to commit himself to these shallow believers.  We all have some hypocrisy in us.  We say we believe in his name, but when the rubber meets the road, there is not that commitment like we should have.  No one has to testify or tell us that man is bad.  That goes without saying.  Every single man, woman, boy, or girl has sinned and come short of what God expects.  The problem is that pride keeps them from admitting it.

A Humble Believer

Christ wants humble believers, that come to him with a sincere heart, who are willing to believe the truth of the Bible.  When we fail to believe the Bible, even when it goes against what we think or have been taught, we become the kind of people that Christ does not want to commit himself unto.  When we draw nigh, or near to God, he draws near to us.  When we commit and set apart our lives for God’s use, the Lord then commits himself to us to be a faithful guide and friend.  I don’t want to be in a place where Jesus is unwilling to commit himself to my life.  I need him everyday and every hour.  Do you seek him and commit your life unto him?  Or are you the kind who only follows the Lord to get a blessing or miracle?  Commit your life to the Lord and he will commit himself to you, despite the fact he knows what you really are.  That is the mercy of the Lord being manifested in your life.
