The Church That Cares For Your Soul

A Window of Opportunity

Ezra 9:8. And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the Lord our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.

There is a window of opportunity for either a child of God to get right or for someone to get saved.  Ezra called it a “little space”.  When God deals with your heart and convicts you, that is the time to repent and get right.  The Bible, when referring to getting saved, says “behold, now is the accepted time.”  There is a time to get saved.  It is not that someone cannot get saved when they call upon the Lord.  The Bible makes it clear that whosoever calls upon the Lord is saved.  The issue is the Lord is only going to send conviction of the Holy Ghost at certain times in a person’s life.  When someone ignores that window of opportunity; and like Agrippa, says, “I will call for a Christian to witness to me when it is convenient”, there may not be that opportunity for the rest of your life.

Salvation requires the Holy Ghost to show a sinner his sin.  It is not natural for a man or woman to admit they are a sinner. Pride is natural.  And without the Holy Ghost, pride is the natural reaction to the gospel.  The same is true of a Christian who backslides and gets out of the will of God.  You do not know when God is going to give you a chance to get right.  You can go out into the far country, but you have no guarantee you are coming back.  It might be that when the preacher is preaching, and you don’t deal with sin in the service, it might be the last chance you have to get right.

Don’t ever let a window of opportunity, that the Holy Ghost shows you, pass you by.  That little space of grace might be the last chance you get.
