The Church That Cares For Your Soul

And It Came to Pass

Genesis 4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

And It Came to Pass

The phrase “and it came to pass” is used almost 400 times in the Bible.  It is used in different situations but usually means “in the process of time” or “it is finally over” or “this happened”.  In the case of this verse in Gen 4:8, this is the first time the phrase is used in the Bible.  It refers to a situation where Cain had likely been planning his brothers murder after he got mad at him.  Cain was looking for the right time to slay his brother and get even.  When he got caught, he showed no remorse before the Lord.  It came to pass and Abel was dead.

Eventually It is Over

All things come to an end eventually.  We go through storms and often they are over before we think.  Others times they linger on for years.  In the end, the problems of life will come to pass.  They will eventually be over and we will be with the Lord for ever.  The Lord wants to take us through trials.  It takes time to make a Christian.  They have to cook and bake and go through things to make them tough.  Eventually one phase may be done, however, it always takes more growth to conform us into the image of Jesus Christ.  So, the trial you are going through will eventually be over, however, you likely will need to go through another to keep you growing.  A good Christian does not have “parking” as an option.  You need to either move forward or you are back sliding.  It will all eventually come to pass and be over at death or the rapture.
