The Church That Cares For Your Soul
Be Not Afraid

Be Not Afraid

Sometimes we get spooked by the things of life.  Instead of just trusting the Lord for everything, we chose rather to fear.  This shows a lack of faith.

Matthew 14:27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

Be Not Afraid

Sometimes we get spooked by the things of life.  Instead of just trusting the Lord for everything, we chose rather to fear.  This shows a lack of faith.  At some point you just have to pray and ask the Lord to help you through.  After that you need to trust Him and believe that He will look out for you no matter what.  Yes, some bad things may happen to you.  Yes, you may end up with some trials and troubles to deal with.  But in the end, we just need to trust the Lord and be not afraid of what this world or man can do to us.  No matter what, we have heaven awaiting us on the other side.  The Lord commanded the disciples to not be afraid.  Maybe they should have known better, but just like you and me, they lacked faith at the right time.  The storm came upon the sea pretty quick that day.  Maybe they were tired and worn out from a day of ministering with the Lord.  Regardless, they forgot who they were serving.  Often we forget who is dwelling inside us at every moment.

Be of Good Cheer

Before the Lord told them to not be afraid, he told them to be of good cheer.  To be of good cheer means to be happy and not thinking gloom and doom is about to happen.  Some people would die if they did not have a problem or situation to complain about all the time.  Being content helps you to be of good cheer.  When you are not happy with the things you have or the people you have in your life, it is pretty hard to be of good cheer.  Soon you will begin to be afraid of what life throws your way.  When the Lord is present in the boat or in our heart, we have no reason to not be cheerful and calm in the situation at hand.  That obviously means you need to put your flesh down for that to happen.  The flesh does not want to be cheerful and trusting.  It wants to be mad and doubting.  Try to trust the Lord today and not be afraid.
