The Church That Cares For Your Soul
Buy the Truth and Don't Sell It

Buy The Truth and Don’t Sell It

We should buy the truth and don’t sell it. We buy the truths of God by investing and giving our lives to the Lord. A close, intimate relationship with the Lord should be valued above all things in life.

Proverbs 23:23 Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

Buy the Truth and Don’t Sell It

We should buy the truth and don’t sell it.  We buy the truths of God by investing and giving our lives to the Lord.  A close, intimate relationship with the Lord should be valued above all things in life.  You should never trade or sell it in exchange for the things of this world.  The first truth you should never sell is your salvation.  You should never forget the pit God found you in and where you came from. Selling your salvation is not losing your salvation by being wicked but rather you quit valuing it as something more precious than anything in this life.  The next thing you should not sell or give up is a good church.  If you are in a good church, don’t give it up for a better job.  If you are not in a good church, don’t be afraid to give up a job so you can be in one.  The third thing you should value and not sell is a godly family.  You should value preserving your family and their walk with God above all things in this world.

Wisdom, Instruction and Understanding

Wisdom, instruction and understanding come with the truth of the Word of God.  As we buy up and don’t sell the things of God, we need to increase our wisdom, instruction and understanding of the Lord.  You get to know God by reading and studying the Word of God.  Time spent at the feet of Jesus is not time that is wasted.  It is time that is sent ahead to glory.  It is well spent time.  Mary chose the wiser use of her time when she laid at the feet of Jesus.  Martha was just a little too busy cleaning the kitchen and making sandwiches.  Ladies – you need to take care of your family and guests, but when it becomes all you do and you neglect or reduce your time with the Lord, it is not a good thing.  You will soon become sharp and critical with a sour spirit.  Men – when you know more about sports team or race cars than you do the Word of God, you are investing time in the wrong things.  Buy the truth up and don’t sell it.  It is a precious commodity in the kingdom of God.
