The Church That Cares For Your Soul

Choices

Matthew 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

Psalms 78:70 He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:

Deuteronomy 7:7 The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:

Choices

The words chosen, chose, and choose appear over 200 times in the word of God.  It involves making decisions and making choices between things and situations life.  There are times where God makes choices and man makes choices, in the Bible.  All of them are very important.  As Christians, we must be open to God’s calling on our life for service.  We need to listen for His voice when he chooses us to carry out a task for Him, whether a minor or a major task.

Choosing Christ in Salvation

God calls many people to salvation.  He is not willing that any should perish but that every man, woman, boy, or girl comes to repentance and turns to Christ for salvation.  Though many hear the gospel call, be it through a tract, a witness, reading the Bible, or a blog, or listening to a sermon, few will make the choice of accepting Christ as Saviour.  Jesus Christ paid for your sins on Calvary.  It would be foolish to refuse that payment of sin and then die and go to hell.  You go to hell, not because your sin has been paid for, but rather because you refuse Christ.

God’s Call on Our Life

In the same sense that you make a choice of trusting Christ, God also chooses us.  The Holy Ghost of God was seeking you out and on your trail before you got saved.  In any marriage, there is a proposal and an accepting.  God gives the offer of salvation and we must accept.  God chose the nation of Israel for His people; however, not everyone in the nation of Israel got saved.  They still needed to make an individual choice to trust God by faith.

God’s Service for Our Life

There are also choices God makes for our life after we are saved.  He makes decisions about how we must serve him, where we must go, and who we will marry, to name a few.  We have to be open to God’s voice as He makes choices for our life on a daily basis.  He chose many in the Old Testament for all kinds of service in the tabernacle.  They all did different things.  Some were carpenters, others were hauling ashes out of the brazen altar.  We all have a place in the service of God.  Also, God often called people based on their God-given skills.  God uses what he has available.  We need to be open to God developing us as He makes choices for our life.

Making Wise Choices

Are you making wise decisions in life based on God’s leading, or are you doing your own thing?  This life does not belong to us.  We entered into a marriage with Christ when we got saved.  As a good wife, we are to submit to His will each and every day.  We are to let Him make the choices for our life.  We are not our own any more.  We belong to Him.  Let God make the decisions and choices in your life, not you.
