Construction Ahead

Construction Ahead

When there is an accident or construction ahead, sometimes it is necessary to redirect traffic.

Psalms 119:5 O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!

Construction Ahead

When there is an accident or construction ahead, sometimes it is necessary to redirect traffic.  God often needs to redirect us when it is necessary to do construction in our lives.  We often get off the straight and narrow and God needs to conform us to the image of Jesus Christ.  Construction or change in our life is necessary if God is going to change us.  David is begging God to help him direct his ways so that he would keep the statutes and laws of God.  He wants to do it but he realizes his flesh is holding him back.  Construction in a Christian’s life is a slow process.  God needs to hammer away at a sinner with His word little by little.

Direction

A Christian needs direction if he is going to change.  This first and foremost comes through the preaching of the Word of God.  There has to be conviction and a realization of sin your life.  There ahs to be repentance and a change of heart.  There needs to be a desire to stop sinning and start doing right.  Once the direction is established, you need to stay on course and continue through.  There has to be a resolve to change your ways to God’s ways.

Keeping Statutes

Once the direction is set, you need to keep at what you have learned.  No one wants to cover the same ground twice.  You need to keep the same convictions and knowing what is right that you learned 5, 10, or 20 years ago.  Keeping a house in good shape is just as much work at times as doing the original construction.  We need to maintain good works even when we get old.  God wants us to be a witness no matter how long we have been saved.  Is your prayer like David’s?  Do you beg God to help you keep His statutes at all costs?  I hope so.
