The Church That Cares For Your Soul

Developing a Walk With God

Ephesians 5:15-17. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Developing a Walk With God

Having a walk with the Lord is vitally important.  As Christian’s, we are told to walk circumspectly.  We are to be cautious and careful in our walk.  We are to guard against foolish decisions.  Walking circumspectly means we are to understand what God’s will is for our lives.  That understanding is not going to come from the world and it’s views.  The television is not going to tell you what the will of the Lord is.  It will only come from digging into God’s word and spending time in it.  Regular Bible reading is vital to circumspect living.

A Second Generation Christian Lives by Faith and Not by Sight

Many young people fail to get beyond salvation.  They do not add to their faith virtue.  I believe that is the reason many of them get out of church.  They never get to the point of establishing a circumspect, cautious, walk with the Lord.  A second generation Christian has a rough road to haul.  They need to live a life of faith, believing their parents and the word of God, that the world and sin has nothing to offer.  That is a lot harder than living in sin like the prodigal and then getting right.  The prodigal knows sin is bad from experience.  A second generation Christian only knows it is bad by a belief in the word of God and what his or her parents tell them.  That is a higher level of walk with God.  I believe the Lord is honored and glorified by such a walk.

A Need for Wisdom to Walk With God

We are told to redeem or make up time in these last, evil days.  You need to take time to be holy.  It takes time to read a little extra Bible, pray and understand God’s will.  You need that wisdom if you are going to minister effectively.  A busy Christian is not always an effective Christian when he is walking in the flesh rather than walking with God.  A fool just charges into battle without knowledge or a plan.  A godly Christian has godly knowledge and makes plans based on godly counsel.  I encourage young people to get a walk with God, early in a Christian life.  The Lord can do so much more with you.  However, an old dog can still learn to walk with God if he puts the time into taking time to sit at the feet of Jesus like Mary.
