Evil Thoughts

Proverbs 24:9 – The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.

2 Corinthians 10:5 – Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

We often let our thoughts run wild on evilness.  We do not control them as we should and it soon becomes sin.  If left unchecked our evil thoughts will come out of our mouths as words and will hurt someone.  Those words will then become actions and produce more sin.  The Bible says that even the thought of foolishness is sin.  The more you think on evil, the harder it will be to get it out of your system.  It can grow into a root of bitterness very quickly if left unchecked.

We need to cast down imaginations.  Imaginations are a unique kind of evil thought.  Imaginations are evil thoughts that stray from the facts.  Often as we stew on hurts, we begin to fill in the details with things that are totally fabricated or false.  Often those false thoughts or imaginations make things even worse than they were in reality.  These imaginations are what we need to bring into captivity or cage up and throw away the key.  There are also high things or things that we make bigger or worse than they really are.  We tend to exaggerate wrongs or hurts when we begin to imagine.  These imaginations and high things are contrary to God’s knowledge or the truth.  If we are going to be obedient to Christ we must cast down these thoughts.  We must do battle with our mind and the devil.  We must put good things in our head to replace the bad things.

Try to let God have control of your mind.  He can help you to cast down evil imaginations and thoughts.
