Forsake Me Not

Forsake Me Not

Sometimes we are begging God for help.  We try to do right but sometimes it just seems like we fall way short of the glory of God.

Psalms 119:8 I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly.

Forsake Me Not

Sometimes we are begging God for help.  We try to do right but sometimes it just seems like we fall way short of the glory of God.  We beg God to not forsake us utterly or completely.  When it comes down to the bottom line, we are all living on the mercy of God.  Even the best of saints have some kind of flaws.  It is the ones who realize it that make progress with God.  Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners, not self righteous people.  Pride is a deadly sin.  It is what did away with the devil.  It can also put you in hell.  We sometimes think of outward sins like drugs, sex, and living immoral as the most deadly sins.  But really those sins will not keep you out of heaven like inward sins such as pride.  Yes those outward sins will lead a person to not wanting to get saved, but when someone gets saved, the outward sins are the first ones we overcome.  That is because they are not as controlling as sins that are inward.  Inward sins can often battle us for the rest of our lives.

Keeping God’s Statues

As we try to keep God’s statutes, the outward sins are the first to be overcome as a baby Christian.  As you grow, you begin to work on the inside.  It is the inside that God is really concerned with.  That is because the heart is where all sin starts.  If we are going to keep God’s statues, we have to think right first and foremost.  We need to think about lovely things, pure things, just things and upright things.  You start thinking angry, bitter, uncontented thoughts, sooner or later you are going to not just be sinning on the inside, you will be sinning on the outside.  As we battle the flesh day in and day out to overcome the sins of the heart, we continue to beg God to not give up on us completely.  We see how frail we really are and we appreciate more and more what Christ did for us on Calvary.
