The Church That Cares For Your Soul

Fulness of Joy

Psalms 16:11 – Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

How shall we rest in God? By giving ourselves wholly to Him. If you give yourself by halves, you cannot find full rest; there will ever be a lurking disquiet in that half which is withheld. Martyrs, confessors, and saints have tasted this rest, and “counted themselves happy in that they endured.” A countless host of God’s faithful servants have drunk deeply of it under the daily burden of a weary life,–dull, commonplace, painful, or desolate. All that God has been to them He is ready to be to you. The heart once fairly given to God, with a clear conscience, a fitting rule of life, and a steadfast purpose of obedience, you will find a wonderful sense of rest coming over you. JEAN NICOLAS GROU.

I think sometimes we let the things of life get us down.  We try and find rest and contentment in things that leave our mouth filled with gravel.  But things are not the place to find joy.  It can only be found in His presence.  His presence is the only path to everlasting life, true life, a joyous life.  True pleasures are not found in this world.  They can only be found at the right hand of God.  Do you know what is at the right hand of God?  It is Jesus Christ.  You are only going to find pleasure in Him and living a crucified life like he did.  Christ did not live unto himself.  He gave it all, not just some.  As he gave it all, we need to give it all as well.  If we are going to find pleasures that will last and be eternal, we are going to have to give everything.

We need to drink at the fountain of life daily.  Christ said all ye come unto me, that have trials and troubles, he will give you rest to your souls.  He said he was the well of life.  He has the water that will cause you to never thirst again.  There is joy that is springing up just like a spring of water.  This spring is a “joy spring” that is feed by His presence.  We come before His presense by feasting on the Word and prayer.  The more water you drink from the well of life, the better off you will be.  Do you crave that cool, clear water of the joy derived from being continually in His presence?  I hope so.  The presence of God is a wonderful thing to have in your life. I hope you desire it more than your necessary food.  I know the Lord wants you to have it.  But His presence comes with the cost of a holy life and giving your all to Him.  Unfortunately some are not will to pay the price to have that cool, clear water of His presence.

I hope you desire the presence of God in your life daily, throughout the day, every minute.  I believe that is God’s will, that His presence would always go with us just as Moses asked of God.
