The Church That Cares For Your Soul

God Has to Clean the Heart

Psalms 51:10-12. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

God Has to Clean the Heart

God has to clean the heart and get our spirit back on par.  It is not a work of the flesh that we can drum up.  The heart is deceitful and you cannot fix it.  You try to work and make things right in your life but it does not work.  David had to come to the end of himself before he could come to God and ask him to create a clean heart in him.  God does not want you to try to clean yourself up.  He wants you to utterly depend on him to fix the problem.

Growing Tired of Not Having God’s Presence

David was likely tired of not having the presence of God in his life.  In a way, he was probably relieved when Nathan the prophet came to him and said “thou art the man.”  He could finally get right and get the joy of his salvation back.  How do you handle it when the man of God gets in your face and says, “thou art the man?”  Do you thank God for it so that you can finally get right and get the presence of God back in your life?  You need a Nathan in your life to do just that.

God’s Spirit is the Only Thing That Works

God’s Spirit is the only thing that is going to hold you up and keep you going.  We try to do it in the arm of flesh.  We think if we can just figure it out, we can get it fixed.  God wants you to get in His word and figure it out.  He wants to speak to your heart and create a clean heart and a renewed spirit. Then God can hold you up and get you through.  We need God’s presence on a daily basis.  You need to walk in the Spirit and maintain a right relationship with God.  Don’t let God cast you away from His presence because you refuse to get right.  You need Him more than ever.  He is there with outstretched arms to receive you back at any time you humbly come to Him.
