The Church That Cares For Your Soul

God – Why Did You Make Me This Way?

Romans 9:20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

We often question God and his motives in why He made us with certain traits, characteristics or faults.  We might not always admit it openly to others, but we certainly do it in our mind and eventually it will come out in our actions.  As a child of God, we should always trust in the sovereignty of God and the decisions He makes in our lives.  We were created for His pleasure, not ours.  His goals for our lives are primarily to bring glory and honor to himself.  Our goals are often to bring glory and honor to ourselves.  We have flaws and struggles and his humans that God has designed into us.  I know that sounds weird, but it is true.

The Lord formed you in the belly of your mother.  He made you the way you are.  The way He gets glory and honor from our lives is by spiritual growth.  If He did not design some flaws into you when He formed you, you would have nothing to grow through or overcome.  God gets glory as you overcome and become more and more conformed to the image of Christ.  God has power over the clay to make one vessel one way and another a different way.  Maybe God gave you more flaws and made you a really messed up vase with the lid cracked, the handle broken off and a few parts missing so he had more to fix.  He gets a lot more glory out of that than a life that does not need repair.  Just look at the Pharisees.

The Lord wants you to just trust His decisions and the way He made you.  We should also trust the way He made others around us including our spouse, children, pastor, church members, neighbors, friends, etc.  God made each of us unique.  He put flaws in others vessels that He did not put in yours.  We all have struggles to overcome.  We all have a cross we need to pick up each day and bear for the Lord that has been given us.  A cross could easily be a struggle or trial the Lord has designed into you.  Regardless, we need to just trust God and let Him work in is to overcome the things He has designed into us.  He will get glory and honor from that in the end.
