The Church That Cares For Your Soul
He Hath Shewed Thee

He Hath Shewed Thee

God has shown us more often than not what we need to do. The Word of God is like a good pair of binoculars if we use it. It will magnify the defects in our life if we would just look through it.

Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

He Hath Shewed Thee

God has shown us more often than not what we need to do.  The Word of God is like a good pair of binoculars if we use it.  It will magnify the defects in our life if we would just look through it.  Once we are willing to look, the problem is then believing and doing it.  We scheme and try to figure things out but that is not God’s way.  He wants us to trust him.  He wants us to just believe.  Why we don’t do that is because of pride.  We think we can do better than God and know a better plan for our lives.  It is not as bad as you think just trusting God and doing what He says.  You need to just try God sometime and see if He really cares for you.

To Do Justly

God requires some things of us if we are going to live for him.  First we need to do justly.  You can’t cheat and fake your way through life.  First you need to quit your lying.  Some people have lied so long they can not even tell when they are telling the truth or a lie.  They almost live in a fantasy world.  God wants us to do right by people.  If you are always looking to see what you can get away with in life, that is not living justly.  You need to live right before God and man.  You need to be just in your dealings.

To Love Mercy

You should love mercy not just toward yourself but towards others.  God had mercy on you when He saved your soul from hell.  You should have mercy with others.  You should “love” mercy.

The mercies of God make a sinner proud, but a saint humble. Thomas Watson

Mercy should always be your first choice rather than giving out judgment.  Do people think of you as being merciful and forgiving?  That is the kind of reputation you should have.  You love receiving mercy from God.  You should love giving it out to others.

To Walk Humbly

Do you walk humbly before God?  Do you put others before yourself?  Do you look down on yourself and elevate others better than yourself?  That is walking humbly before God.  Do you look on yourself as a vile sinner before God and man?  You should.  God loves the humble.  God hates the proud.

When the corn is nearly ripe it bows the head and stoops lower than when it was green.  When the people of God are near ripe for heaven, they grow more humble and self-denying … Paul had one foot in heaven when he called himself the chiefest of sinners and least of saints. – John Flavel

When we start thinking we deserve better than what God has given us, we are not walking humbly.  When we appreciate any mercy or grace that God gives us, we are walking humbly.  Do you complain about what God hasn’t given you or are you thankful for what he has given you?  It seems like some of the most humble and appreciative of God’s people are the ones who have he least.  God has shewed you what you need to do, now do it!
