The Church That Cares For Your Soul

Hindering Revival

Isaiah 59:1. Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

Sin Hinders Revival

The Lord can work miracles in our lives.  He is there ready to hear.  The problem is that often we have sin in our lives and hinder the progress of God.  God is more than willing to bring revival in the lives of His church.  The problem is that he cannot find a humble soul that is willing to seek God enough to move God.  We hinder the work of God more than we are willing to admit at times.  It is not that God can’t.  It is just our stubbornness that gets in the way.

It Takes Earnest Prayer

God’s supply is not short.  He owns the cattle on a thousand hills.  The bottom line is that we are just too lazy to do the spiritual battle that is necessary to seek God.  It takes a lot of effort to seek God earnestly in prayer.  The old timers, in revivals of the past, would pray for hours on end for God to humble them and prepare them for revival.  The holiness from God will push you to repentance as you seek the Lord for revival.  Finney always believed that the formulas for procuring revival were pretty cut and dry.  If you do A, B and C, then revival would come.  We want to believe that revival is only for certain periods in time, but God does not see it that way.

Laziness and Apathy

This passage is, obviously, about the millienial reign of Christ.  I am trying to apply it to the church age.  The Lord needs to clean some things up with the nation of Israel before He returns.  He wants to show himself mighty in the tribulation and millienum.  The same is true of the church age.  God wants to show Himself mighty.  He wants revival in His church.  He wants to produce a holy church.  The problem is that we hinder His progress through our laziness and apathy at times.  We don’t want to put the effort into what is required for revival.  Let’s not hinder God.  Let’s allow Him to work in us and through us to see a revival in our day.
