The Church That Cares For Your Soul
Honoring Your Wife

Honoring Your Wife

Honoring your wife is important for a Christian man if he wants to have his prayers answered.

1 Peter 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

Honoring Your Wife

Honoring your wife is important for a Christian man if he wants to have his prayers answered.  A true Christian man will learn his wife’s needs and wants and will then apply Bible knowledge to any given situation at hand.  He needs to dwell or live with his wife day in and day out.  He needs to fellowship with her and respect her.  He needs to listen to her.  A good Christian man will know what can help his wife and what can hinder her.  He will look for opportunities to build his wife up spiritually.  You need to tell your wife you love her regularly.  You need to love in a sacrificial way just like Christ loved the church and gave himself for it.  By doing all this, you will give honour unto your wife.

A Weaker Vessel

A good husband realizes his wife’s weaknesses and works around them.  He does not keep bringing them up and throwing them in her face!  He uses the knowledge he gains from knowing her and then helps her through things.  A woman is naturally a weaker vessel and needs a little extra help.  A man needs to nurture and encourage the growth of his wife spiritually and physically.  A good man sees the good in his wife and overlooks the bad.  Charity covers a multitude of sin applies to marriage as well.

Heirs Together

A husband and a wife are a team  They are heirs together of the grace they have received in this life.  The prayer life of a man is tied to how he treats his wife.  You treat your wife badly and God may just quit answering your prayers.  God definitely has built-in protections against a man abusing his authority in marriage and this is one of them.  An heir inherits something.  In our case it is a home in heaven or a chance to rule and reign with Jesus Christ in the millienum.  It could also refer to inheriting grace in this life as well.  I definitely want grace and mercy in this life as well as the life to come.  Honour your wife today and tell her you appreciate her.  In Proverbs 31, the virtuous woman was praised by her husband in the gates.  You should praise and honour your wife as well.
