Is Anything to Hard for God

Is Anything too Hard for God

An angel of the Lord, when speaking to Abraham, asked the simple question “Is any thing too hard for the Lord?”  It was really a rhetorical question.  The answer is simply “no.”

Genesis 18:14 Is any thing too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.

Is Anything too Hard for God

An angel of the Lord, when speaking to Abraham, asked the simple question “Is any thing too hard for the Lord?”  It was really a rhetorical question.  The answer is simply “no.”  However, at times, we doubt God and question whether some things are just beyond the reach of the Lord to fix.  The Marshall Family sings a song with the same title as this blog.  In that song it asks a similar rhetorical question “Is there a problem beyond His power to solve?”  The Lord may not always “fix” things the way we want, but He does always accomplish His will.  Abraham, after waiting nearly 25 years to have the promise of Issac fulfilled in his life, doubted God for a moment and questioned the Lord here.  That did not stop the Lord from fulfilling His promise.  Thank God He does not need perfect faith in our life to get done what He wants to get done.

At the Time Appointed

One of the biggest problems with God doing something is having to wait.  At the appointed time is obviously referring to the gestation time of Issac.  God also has an appointed time to accomplish what he wants to do in our lives.  Often it is not as fast as we like.  It was not fast enough for Abraham and Sarah.  There was a little lapse in judgment as a result with Hagar and Ishmael.  We often try to do things on our own when we think God is not moving fast enough.  It is easier to just roll up our sleeves and do some things in the flesh to get it done.  However, when we do that we end up with an Ishmael.  Ishmael is a thorn in the flesh to Israel to this day.  Our quick decisions are often paid for with reaping the effects of our poor judgment for a long time after they happen.  The effects can appear years or decades later.  We need to trust God and wait on God no matter what.  Issac was worth the wait and so is a life lived by faith, waiting on God.
