Little Things Make Big Things

Little Things Make Big Things

Little things make big things in the eyes of God.  Little ants make big ant hills.  Little locusts can destroy whole fields.  The way they make big things is the little things work together.

Proverbs 30:24  There be four things which are little upon the earth,
but they are exceeding wise:

Zechariah 4:10  For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth.

Luke 16:10  He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

Little Things Make Big Things

Little things make big things in the eyes of God.  Little ants make big ant hills.  Little locusts can destroy whole fields.  The way they make big things is the little things work together.  They work together through the wisdom that God puts in them.  We sometimes esteem things like ants or locusts of little value (especially when we just “squash” them and through them away).  When we are faithful with the little things that God puts in our life, the Lord can then trust us with big things.  But until you put in your time and know how to be faithful when no one is watching, it is highly unlikely that you will follow through when the big job comes your way.  Doing little things consistently is what we call character.  Character is not built overnight.  It often takes a life time to build good character.  That is why it is so important that we instill character in our young children at an early age so that it becomes habit.  When you do the little things almost by memory, then you have begun to build character.

Faithfulness is What God Looks At

God looks at faithfulness.  He wants to see consistency in the Christian’s life.  Do you tithe regular?  Can your pastor count on your tithe and missions offering on a regular basis?  Or does he have to wonder if you spent God’s money this week?  When a Christian learns to be faithful in the little things that no one sees, God can begin to trust him with more.  When a Christian learns to act justly and keep God’s commandments, even the little ones, God can trust that Christian with more.  The world despises the person who is meticulous in their walk with God and mislabel them as “OCD”.  They say it is a waste of time.  But God praises faithfulness in little things very highly.  It takes godly wisdom to be faithful in the little things.  God puts wisdom in ants to build nests and store food for winter.  Got puts wisdom into the Christian through little things like reading your Bible and obeying God’s word.  You need to be faithful with what God gives you.
