The Church That Cares For Your Soul

No Condemnation in Christ

Romans 8:1. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

No Condemnation in Christ – Your Standing

When you get saved, you are put into Jesus Christ’s body.  You are no longer under the condemnation of God and on your way to hell.  That is eternal security of the believer in a nut shell.  Your “standing”with God is your soul and spirit are immediately separated from your body.  Your spirit is quickened, or made alive with God’s Spirit. Your body awaits a glorified body at the resurrection.  Salvation is not something that we do, it is a transaction of God when we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.  You might not feel a lot different, but when the Holy Ghost moves in, your desires should change.  However, since your body is still under a curse, there is a part of your salvation that will not be complete until the second coming of Christ.

Walking in the Spirit – Your State

Because you are not complete, there is a second side to your eternal life that has nothing to do with your eternal security or whether you are in Christ.  It is your sanctification.  It is your “state” with God.  Your standing is that you are saved if you have trusted Christ.  Your state depends on how you are living.  If you are walking after the flesh, then your current state with God is probably not all that good.  If you are going to rule and reign with Christ in the next life, then your “state” in the current life is going to affect that.  You have to live a life that is “after the Spirit.”  The Holy Ghost has to have control.  Does he have control of your life?  Is he ruling and reigning on the throne of your heart today?  I hope so.
