The Church That Cares For Your Soul

Not in Man to Walk Right

Jeremiah 10:23-24 O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. O Lord, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.

Not in Man to Walk Right

It is not in us to walk right and do right.  All we have is wickedness in our hearts, with the exception of the Holy Ghost dwelling there by faith.  Our hearts are deceitful things.  We think we are doing right, but often deceived.  It is not inherent in our nature to walk right.  We need outside intervention to get us to walk in the way of the Lord.  If we are not controlled by the Spirit of God, we will make bad decisions. We need guidance and direction from the Lord all day long.

We Need Correction When on the Wrong Path

We also need correction when we do get on the wrong path.  God does not correct us in anger.  Instead, he uses judgment to correct us, in love.  It is for our good and his good.  We think of judgment as a bad thing; however, when you are heading in the wrong direction and God’s judgment causes you to get back on the right path, that is good.  We should always pray and ask for God’s guidance.  We should also ask the Lord that if we do make a wrong decision that he will correct our steps.  The Lord knows we are trying to feel our way through life as we make decisions by faith.  We seek God’s direction, and at times, still make wrong decisions.  God gently gets us back on the right path so that we are not totally destroyed and brought to nothing.
