The Church That Cares For Your Soul

Pluto, Pleiades and Planets

Genesis 1:6 – And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

Job 9:9 – Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.

Isaiah 40:22 – It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

2 Peter 3:6 – Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

With all the talk of the fly by of NASA’s Horizon Pluto Mission, I thought I would do a blog on some of what the Bible has to say about the our solar system.  I am a creationist.  That means I believe what the Bible says about the origins of the universe.  One thing is clear from the Bible and reading through Genesis is that the earth had a history before Adam 6000 years ago.  The other thing that is true, that history involved water.  God created the earth in Genesis 1:1 and in Genesis 1:2 it is without form and void.  You don’t create things that are formless and empty.  You create them with shape, distinction, function and purpose.

So even though man only has a 6000 year history according to the Bible, this earth likely existed in a previous kingdom that was ruled by Satan.  After Satan was kicked out of that kingdom, God destroyed the earth with water according to 2 Peter 3:6.  Isaiah makes it pretty clear that the earth is round.  Isaiah figured that out long before Copernicus.  God had a purpose in everything he created in this solar system and universe including Pluto.  However the uniqueness of planet earth makes nearly life unique to this planet.

Even if the atmospheric and water conditions of earth existed on another distant planet, life would still need to be created to exist there.  You really have to be an educated fool to believe in evolution.  The goal of many of NASA’s programs are to try and find life outside of earth.  Why is that so important to them.  Because ultimately if life is not unique to earth, then it is possible God did not create life but it was just a chance accident.  The logic then continues that to say that if God does not exist, then sin does not exist.  If sin does not exist then we are not accountable.  If we are not accountable, then why would there need to a place like hell.  If there is no sin and no hell, then why would God send his son to die for our sin.

Jesus Christ was a creationist.  He said Adam was first formed, then Eve.  You form or give shape when you create.  Your view of the universe shapes your theology.  The two are not inseparable.  So where are you on this issue.  Are you a “theistic evolutionist?”  Do you believe in both God and evolution at the same time.  I would argue that just does not work.  I challenge you to get in the Bible and make sure you line up with God on creationism.  The truth shall make you free.
