The Church That Cares For Your Soul

Some Believed and Some Believed Not

Acts 28:24. And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

Acts 28:27. For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Some Believed and Some Believed Not

People have a choice in life, to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ or to believe not.  Paul could not make the Jews get saved and neither can we make anyone get saved.  People and nations have tried in the past to “make” people believe and convert to “Christianity”, but that was only making them religious.  The Bible makes it clear that salvation is not by the will of man (John 1:13).  You cannot will or force anyone to get saved.

Hard Hearts, Dull Ears, and Closed Eyes

Many will not get saved, especially later in life.  As time goes by, the devil blinds the eyes of people.  Have you become hard to the things of God and the Word of God?  Some fail to see what is plainly before them in the scripture.  When your heart waxes gross, you fail to be affected by the simple truths of salvation.  Instead, you rely on what you have been taught or raised with.  The Jews, that Paul was dealing with, had grown very comfortable in their religion.  The very religion that was supposed to point them to the Saviour had failed them.  It failed to recognize the very one their prophets had told them of. The Jews had long ago replaced the Bible with tradition and other religious curiosities.

The Devil Wants to Stop Conversion

The devil does not mind you praying a little prayer, what he does not want is you being converted.  When with your heart you understand the gospel, quit trusting your religion or your own good deeds, you will trust Christ and Him alone for salvation.  At that point you are converted from a sinner to a saint.  Your whole makeup and being is changed.  That is old-time conversion.  This only happens when the heart understands the gospel.  If there has never been a time when you realized you were a sinner, there is no way for you to be converted to a saint or born again child of God.  If you were never a child of the devil, you cannot become a child of God.  You need to change families to be converted.  That is what the devil does not want.  He can put up with you being religious and going to church, he just can’t put up with you being saved.  Some believe and some believe not.  How about you?  Has there ever been a true change in your life where you heart understood the gospel and you were truly saved?
