The Church That Cares For Your Soul
Sudden Destruction

Sudden Destruction

Sudden destruction is going to be the fate of many.  They have refused to obey when reproved.

Proverbs 29:1 He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

Sudden Destruction

Sudden destruction is going to be the fate of many.  They have refused to obey when reproved.  Because of pride, there are few who can take a rebuke from the pulpit, from a brother in Christ, a spouse or friend and then get right.  No one in the flesh wants to admit they are wrong.  It takes the Spirit of God to bring conviction and then fruit meet for repentance in the Christian’s heart.  When that does not happen, the neck starts to harden.  Doing nothing when rebuked or reproved can be fatal to your spiritual life.  Instead you should examine yourself and try and correct what is wrong.  When someone reproves us, we often start to make excuses.  They may not totally understand what is going on in our life, but they likely got a track on something that can help us.  Even someone who may be “less spiritual” than us can often help us.  God’s used Baalim’s ass to stop him from doing something really stupid.

The Right Remedy

The right remedy is one that helps us grow rather than be destroyed.  We need to seek the right thing to do from a good reproof.  When you don’t fstrive hard to change, you are only going to go one direction, downstream and then back slide.  We need to constantly keep in the front of our mind the things we need to work on.  Most likely many of us have been warned multiple times not to do certain things.  After a point, you will become bitter and resentful towards reproofs.  You have tried to change but have given in to the flesh so much you no longer want to hear it.  You stop your ears toward the truth and your heart becomes hard.  As a result, people will let you go your own way and no longer give you advice that may be needed.  Pride is a bad and dangerous thing.  It can keep you from getting what you may need.  The right remedy to avoid destruction is a humble and contrite heart.  God will not despise that any time of the day.
