The Church That Cares For Your Soul

The Altar Ed

Joshua 22:24-25 And if we have not rather done it for fear of this thing, saying, In time to come your children might speak unto our children, saying, What have ye to do with the Lord God of Israel? For the Lord hath made Jordan a border between us and you, ye children of Reuben and children of Gad; ye have no part in the Lord: so shall your children make our children cease from fearing the Lord.

The Altar Ed

The children of Israel built an altar on the east side of the Jordan River for the children of Gad, Reuben and Manasseh.  There was a fear that the east siders in Israel would be despised by the west siders on the other side of the river.  They was a fear that this would eventual cause future generations to quit serving the Lord out of jealousy and rivalry.  The Altar Ed was a memorial so that future generations would not forget what the Lord had done for mom and dad.  We need to set some memorials in our children’s lives so that they do not forget what God has done.  The best way to do that is live a godly, holy life before them.  I would never want to have my children try to keep people from coming to the Lord because of where they live or their background. That is what is suggested was going to happen between the east siders and the west siders here.

No Part in the Lord

Having no part in the Lord would be a terrible thing.  We have a great inheritance in the Lord.  I would never want to lose that.  It is so important that we don’t lose what the Lord has given us.  If it takes an Altar Ed to keep from losing my part in the Lord, then I need to invest in and build that altar; that memorial to the Lord for future generations.  Investing in your children and there Bible education in church and school is building that altar for future generations.  Having them memorize verses and doing Bible quizzing is investing in the Altar Ed.  Teaching young people to have a walk with God is investing in the Altar Ed.  We need Altar Eds to keep the church moving.  We need missions to have this memorial.  Future generations need their part in the Lord.  They need the Altar Ed.
