The Church That Cares For Your Soul
The Bragger

The Bragger

The bragger is someone who is constantly telling you how great they are.  They have some story that they are the center of and the hero.

Proverbs 12:9 He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.

The Bragger

The bragger is someone who is constantly telling you how great they are.  They have some story that they are the center of and the hero.  Sometimes it has daring feats involved that are often unbelievable.  The problem is some people tell stories (i.e. lies) so much they almost begin to believe the stories themselves.  The root of it all is honoring themselves.  When we start to brag about things we did or our stories are all about ourselves with very little giving the Lord the glory and credit, we are in a bad way.  You can honor yourself and tell everyone about all the money you “used” to have but if you still lack bread or the basic necessities of life, it would be best just to keep your mouth shut.  It would be better if everyone despised you and you have a few things.

God Does Not Like Boasters

The Lord does not like people who constantly boast about things.  The humble person does not really care what people think of him.  That is because he is happy with whatever the Lord has provided.  Boasters also complain about their situation a lot.  That is because they are not happy with what the Lord has given them.  Maybe you would not lack bread as much if you would quit your boasting and bragging.  It is best to let the Lord honor you and not look to the world for acknowledgment or worth.  When you expects the world to supply you with acceptance and acknowledgement, you will come up very short.  It is better to humble yourself and just let the Lord exalt you.  The problem is you would need to put the flesh down to make that happen.
