The Church That Cares For Your Soul

The Help of the Holy Spirit

Ephesians 1:13b-14 …ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

The Holy Spirit seals us when we get saved.  When something is sealed, that does two things.  One, it keeps whatever is inside from getting out.  It also keeps what is outside from getting in.  When we are sealed with the Holy Spirit, our salvation is sealed inside so it cannot get out.  We are sealed unto the day of redemption.  That is eternal security of the believer.  The spirit also seals what is on the outside from getting in.  Because of God’s spirit, we have protection against the world if we yield to the seal and let it have it’s way.  We can overcome this flesh if we chose to.

The Holy Spirit is also a downpayment or earnest for our future inheritance in heaven.  It is a promise that one day we will be forever with the Lord.  He will not forget us and will be with us until our dying day or He comes back with a loud trump.  The Holy Spirit is a great possession for the child of God.  It is very important that we not only possess the Spirit of God but that we are full of Him.  Having the filling of the Spirit of God is something every believer needs.

The Holy Spirit finally allows us to praise Him for his glory.  The Holy Spirit puts something inside every believer that will cause Him to want to praise God.  You can praise God in song, praise Him in testimony, praise Him in the house of God or praise Him about any where.  Praise should be on the lips of the child of God all the time.  Unfortunately we are not always as full of the Holy Ghost as we should be and our praise ends up lacking.
