The Church That Cares For Your Soul
The Lord is Our Buckler

The Lord is Our Buckler

The Lord is our buckler or shield.  He provides protection and preserves our way in this old world.

Proverbs 2:7-8 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

The Lord is Our Buckler

The Lord is our buckler or shield.  He provides protection and preserves our way in this old world.  A buckler was used in ancient battle as a large shield to provide protection of the entire body.  It protected against stones, arrows and spears.  It was used for defense of the soldier.  The Lord provides protection to his saints that walk right and do right.  He will come to our defense when we step out by faith and make a stand for him.  God will give us sound wisdom that will withstand the test of time.

Good Convictions

Good convictions come from the Lord and we can lay them up for protection in the future.  If you have good convictions and you stick with them, they will keep you out of trouble for years in the future.  A conviction is something that eventually will become habit.  When you backslide in the future, your convictions can help you get back on track.  A conviction to always read your Bible each day will be a buckler to keep you going when you don’t feel like doing right.

Preservation of the Saints

The way of the saints is preserved or kept by the Lord.  He saved our soul and keeps our soul preserved.  We are kept by the power of God until the day we go home to be with the Lord.  There is an eternal security provided to the believer in Jesus Christ.  You can know you are saved forever.  But God does not just save our soul eternally, He says He will preserve your way.  He watches out for the paths of judgment we head down.  He helps us to keep walking uprightly.  He wants us to get home to Heaven by leading a holy, godly life.
