There is no such thing as the perfect life in the worldly sense that everything is story book perfect. However, a Christian can strive for a perfect life in Christ Jesus.
James 1:4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
The Perfect Life
There is no such thing as the perfect life in the worldly sense that everything is story book perfect. However, a Christian can strive for a perfect life in Christ Jesus. A perfect life for a Christian does not mean that nothing bad ever happens. The Christian is made perfect in Jesus Christ as he yields himself to the Lord. The perfect life in the worldly sense is a fairy tale that just is not going to happen. When we as Christians learn patience through trials and afflictions, Christ is making us perfect. My Pastor preached a great message tonight on letting God put the pieces of your life together. He used the illustration of a puzzle dumped out on a table. That was my life before the Lord found me. It was a mess. But the Lord slowly put surely started to put my life together. Yes there are many problems and mangled pieces to my life, but the Lord has taught me to be patient as he works things out and puts the puzzle of my life together.
Wanting Nothing
The true sign of a Christian reaching perfection is that God continues to put the pieces of their life together. As that happens, they become content with the progress on the puzzle of their life. They let God fit the pieces in when he wants to fit them in. They are in no rush. They trust God’s timing and will for their life. That is definitely not the world’s view of a perfect life, but that is God’s view. When you get to the point you don’t want anything and you are perfect content without whatever you have, the is Christian perfection. Contentment means that you look beyond the imperfections and bad deals you have received in life and trust God that he knows what is best putting your life together. That is a life of faith and trusting God. Patience is trying to perfect you. You learn contentment according to the Bible. It is not something the apostle Paul figure out the first few years he was saved. It likely was toward the end of his life. Try and let the Lord work a perfect work in your life and he can put the puzzle of your life together in His time.
