Titanic Going Down – Are You Lost or Saved

John 3:18 – He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

When the great oceanliner, the Titanic, went down in 1912 two lists were posted in the ship’s home offices. One list was marked “Lost” the other “Saved.”  What a difference one word made in the eyes of the anxious beholders!  Humanity falls ultimately into only two lists in the sight of God. He that believes is not condemned, but he that believes not is condemned already.  It is high time we made certain about where we stand as to “Lost” or “Saved.”  It is just a word’s difference but it makes a world’s distance – and an eternity’s difference! – Lord of What’s Left, p 108, Vance Havner

Like those on the Titanic, we do not know when the day or the hour will come when we will pass from this life.  At that point, all that will matter is where you stand relative to the Son of God.  Which list are you going to be on?  The “Saved” list or the “Lost” list.  We all at one point in our life stand condemned to hell.  I did for over 20 years.  I was on that “Lost” list.  But when I put my faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ alone, God erased my name off of that “Lost” list and wrote my name on the “Saved” list in the Lambs Book of Life with his blood.

What about you? Have you ever seen yourself under the condemnation of God?  You know, anyone who was saved on the Titanic first had to admit the ship was going down and that they would be lost at sea and drown.  They had to make a decision to get in one of the life boats.  Otherwise they could not be saved.  They could have said, “I can make it on my own, I’m a good swimmer”, but it is very unlikely they would have survived in that frigid water.

What about you?  Do you think your righteousness and good works are good enough to get you to heaven?  Your just as foolish as that good swimmer.  You just are not going to be good enough.  The issue is, you would need to be sinlessly perfect to get into heaven on your own merit.  The only person to do that though was Jesus Christ.  You are just not good enough. But God made a deal that cannot be refused in the Word of God.  If you come to Christ by faith, he takes your sin and then gives you his righteousness.  Your soul then becomes sinless.  Now you can get into heaven.

The issue is you need to quit trying to do good to get to heaven and fully trust Christ alone. It is not by works of righteousness but only by Christ mercy and that alone we can be put added to the  “Saved” list.  Christ is the life boat.  You need to quit trusting your on good deeds and just get in the life boat of Jesus Christ’s righteousness.  What are you waiting for?  Are you trying to cheat death?  You are condemned to hell without Christ righteousness.  Come to him today before it is too late.
