The Church That Cares For Your Soul

What is Man?

Psalms 8:3-4 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

What is Man?

What is man?  When you put man up against the rest of God’s creation, we come out pretty small.  Teddy Roosevelt, when visiting with a friend, went outside at night to look up at the stars.  After they looked at God’s majesty for a little while, Teddy made the comment, “Well, now that we are taken down to our right size, we can head back in the house.”  We are really nothing, yet at the same time, we are God’s most prized creation.  He cares about each of us, one by one.  He cares about us more than the individual hairs on our head, or each little sparrow.

God is Ever Mindful of Us

God is ever mindful and ever thinking on his children.  He bought us with His blood and deeply cares about us, more than we care about ourselves.  However, we think at times, that he has forgotten about us because things in life don’t always come out the way we want them to.  When measured up against the universe, we come out pretty small, but in God’s eyes, we are more important than the stars and the moon.  God does not just think about us, He also visits us.  He comes by regularly, as He comforts us with the Holy Ghost, that dwells inside us.

Valuing the Souls of Men

We need to value what God values.  He values souls of men very highly.  He paid the greatest price that could be paid for us, more than any of His creation.  We are more valuable than anything in the animal kingdom, plant kingdom, or mineral kingdom.  Nothing else has an eternal soul, other than man.  He created us for fellowship with himself.  Even the angels could not satisfy the need he had for fellowship.  Man is God’s greatest creation.  So, in answer to the question, “What is Man?”, the answer is–he is God’s greatest creation that was made to bring pleasure to God.
