The Church That Cares For Your Soul

What is Your Attitude Toward Knowledge

Proverbs 12:1 Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.

What is Your Attitude Toward Knowledge

What is your attitude toward learning the Word of God?  Do you love getting in your Bible and digging for pearls of wisdom that can help you grow as a Christian?  If you love instruction and learning, the Bible says you will also love knowledge.  Knowledge is different than instruction.

Knowledge – A clear and certain perception of that which exists, or of truth and fact; the perception of the connection and agreement, or disagreement and repugnancy of our ideas.  Webster’s 1828 Dictionary.

Knowledge involves our perception, connection, love, and hatred of what we learn.  It involves us reacting to what we have been taught.  If you sit through a preaching service and do not react to what you have heard, it will not do you a whole lot of good.  Otherwise, it is just a bunch of facts that you put in your head.  Since knowledge involves your emotions, mind, and heart being involved with what you learn, often it will go against what you think.

We Need to Love Knowledge

We need to love knowledge, even when it reproves or rebukes our wrong living.  Knowledge should change your actions.  It should cause you to stop sinning and start doing right.  The opposite is to be brutish.  When you are brutish, you act like a beast.  A beast is unfeeling, he does not have a conscience.  A lost man or woman is much like a beast.  They are unfeeling and do not care about their soul.  They ignore the Word of God and go about their merry way.  I know the Bible says we are to preach to every creature, but the reason your dog or cat does not get saved is because they do not have a soul and they do not have understanding.  That is the way you are when you refuse knowledge and hate it; you are just like an animal.  You need to love knowledge, let it rebuke you, and change your actions; otherwise, you are acting just like an animal.
