When the Trumpet Sounds

When the Trumpet Sounds

I’ll be gone when the trumpet sounds.  The John Marshall Family used to sing a song that they wrote called I’ll Be Gone, Gone, Gone that my kids were singing today.

1 Corinthians 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

I’ll Be Gone, Gone, Gone

I’ll be gone when the trumpet sounds.  The John Marshall Family used to sing a song that they wrote called I’ll Be Gone, Gone, Gone that my kids were singing today.  What a great song!  The Marshall’s have sure written some great, Bible themed music over the years.  The song is based on this verse from I Corinthians 15 likely.  One day, sooner or later, the rapture will occur, and all of God’s saints will be with him in the clouds.  It will all start with a loud trumpet sound.  A trumpet can be a very loud and penetrating instrument (just ask my parents when I used to practice).  That last trump will surely cut through all the din and craziness that may be going on.  There is no doubt that everyone of God’s saints will hear that call.

The Speed of Light

The rapture will happen so fast, it is likened to the twinkling of an eye.  An eye twinkles at the speed of light or 186,000 miles per second.  That is equal to taking a trip around the world seven times in one second.  That is fast!  We will likely be gone even before we hear the trumpet since sound travels slower than light.  The trumpet may be for those who are left behind.  Regardless, there is no preparing for the rapture at the last-minute.  You need to be ready now.  Are you saved?  You better make sure since the Lord could come back at any time and the rapture could happen before you blink.

An Incorruptible Change

We will be changed from a corruptible body to an incorruptible body like Jesus Christ’s before we can even think about it.  All your pain, all the failings of the flesh against the spirit, every problem you have in this life will be gone faster than you can even think.  All the saints who have gone before us will also get an incorruptible body as well.  There will be saints coming out of the graves to meet the Lord in the air.  Praise God for an eternal body one day that will not pull us toward sin but away from it.  We will no longer have to fight the flesh anymore.  Praise the Lord!
