The Church That Cares For Your Soul

Woodpeckers Outside or Termites on the Inside

The temple of truth has never suffered so much from woodpeckers on the outside as from termites within.

Vance Havner, Pepper n’ Salt

2 Chronicles 7:14 – If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Woodpeckers outside or termites on the inside.  The problem with the church is not the liberals or the conservatives on the outside, the problem is poor quality of church member on the inside.  The woodpeckers in the government will continue to peck away at the church until Jesus Christ comes back.  That will not cause near the destruction that a termite, backbiting, gossiping divisive church member will cause.  I think it is easier for Bible-believing Christians to talk and complain about all the corruption in the political system than to deal with sin in the church.

Revival has never happened when a nation got right.  Revival always happens when God’s people get right.  Even Niniva did not repent until God’s man gave them God’s message.  Revival always starts within God’s people, not without.  The same is true of destruction, almost any empire has always been destroyed within before it is destroyed from without.  Look at the Roman Empire.  The same is true of the church.  We will destroyed from the termites within the church.  Churches need to deal with sin and corruption within.  Proper church discipline needs to happen when sin is in the camp.  We need to seek holiness in the churches of America.  We don’t need more programs, just good old fashioned preaching that lays a demand at the sinners feet.

So what is it going to be.  Are you going to focus on the woodpeckers you can do nothing about or try and deal with the termites in your own life that are hindering the work of God going forward?
