The Church That Cares For Your Soul

Your Father’s Dwelt On the Other Side

Joshua 24:2 And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.

Your Father’s Dwelt On the Other Side

Many of us grew up as heathen.  Our father’s dwelt on the other side of the flood and served other gods.  Terah did not serve God but yet Abraham did.  The only reason Abraham was called out is because God chose him.  I am not a Calvinist but God was certainly merciful to many of us by giving us a chance to get saved.  Young people raised in a Christian home do not understand what Abraham or a first generation Christian goes through.  But even many generations later, God wanted His people to know that they were privileged to be saved.  Their origins were heathen, just like the people that were around them.

They Served Other Gods

The Lord likely sent someone by that witnessed to you if you are saved.  Before that you served other gods.  It may have been the god of money, the god of sports, the god of fashion, or the god of pleasure.  It makes no difference, you served your own foolish lusts.  You were without God and without hope in the world.  The Lord wanted the children of Israel to remain humble and not forget the rock He found them under.  The Lord wants us to stay humble and remember where He found us.  We sometimes think we have arrived at times and start to look down on others.  All you have to do is look back on your past and you will soon learn to have compassion.  The Lord has been good to you.  You have been blessed.  Thank God you do not serve other gods like you used to.
