Isa. 12:2 – Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; He also is become my salvation.
Mark 4:40 – Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith?
Go on in all simplicity; do not be so anxious to win a quiet mind, and it will be all the quieter. Do not examine so closely into the progress of your soul. Do not crave so much to be perfect, but let your spiritual life be formed by your duties, and by the actions which are called forth by circumstances. Do not take overmuch thought for tomorrow. God, who has led you safely on so far, will lead you on to the end. Be altogether at rest in the loving holy confidence which you ought to have in His heavenly Providence. ST. FRANCIS DE SALES.
It is sometimes amazing to me how little faith we really have at times. We get so introverted, looking at our own walk with God, we almost make an idol out of that walk. We try so hard to live a perfect Christian life, we end up missing the point completely. This is about the Lord’s yoke, not ours. You can get so concerned about perfection in this life you lose sight of the Lord. Being humble is not thinking less of yourself, it is not thinking about yourself at all. We get far to concerned about the perfect Christian life. Let me tell you, there is no such thing and will not be until heaven. Faith and trust go hand in hand. You show faith when you trust God to always have your best interest at heart. Trust also relates to confidence. If you have confidence that God will always come through, you will have a strong faith.
The opposite of trust is fear. The opposite of humility is pride. When all we focus on is our walk, it can become self-serving. We are like a kid, trying to get acceptance by getting awards and verbal approval and affirmation. We look for the blessings of the Lord as confirmation of his approval. When we don’t get it we get upset, acting like we deserve it, We also begin to fear and expect his judgment. We begin to think God is just looking for an opportunity to make us reap corruption for the sins of our past and or sins in others we know.
God does not operate that way. We need to recognize he cares far more about us than anyone, including ourselves. He has no pleasure in seeing people die and go to hell. He wants to help us through our pain. He was aquatinted with many of the same sufferings you and I go through. He went through that to empathize with you and me.
The answer is we just need to live a simple life. We need to serve the Lord with gladness. We need to live holy just because God is holy and we want to be close to Him. If we worry about being worried, that will not fix the problem. We just need to let God’s providence work in our life and let him bring the trials and trobles we need. If we do that and trust him as we go through it, that will glorify the Lord. The trials will help our walk and help us get closer to God.

This was deep, and really made me think a lot. I need to work on this, simply and not too worried about it, though. 🙂
