Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
When we do things for the Lord, we should always do it to the best of our ability. The Bible word for that is “heartily.” When we do things heartily, we do them with zeal and vigor. You are eager and willing to please who you are working for. When we do things heartily, we try to make things look the best they can, to be correct and to be accurate. The world we live in is full of sloppiness and bad attitudes. If you have a good attitude, it is a lot easier to do a good job.
When we keep our focus on the Lord and not on man, we are doing what we do to please the Lord. If your focus is the Lord, it is a lot easier to keep your attitude right. A good attitude will give you joy and happiness in what you do. A child in school, who hates to read and do school work, is going to have a rough time of it. Their attitude is going to stink and it will show in their work. If a child enjoys school and does a good job, they will likely have a good attitude toward school. If a child can fix their attitude, their work will greatly improve.
As Christians, we need the Lord to fix our attitude, and soon, we will do better for the Lord in our walk with Him. Sometimes we need a touch from God to fix our bad attitude. This flesh can pull you down quickly and get you in a spiritual depression. The Word of God and getting regular baths in it each day, multiple times if necessary, will help us. We need to wash out the world as much as possible to get our attitudes right. Will you let the Lord help you get your attitude right so you can do things heartily for Him?
