The Church That Cares For Your Soul

When You Have No One Left

Job 19:13-19. He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me. My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me. They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight. I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth. My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children’s sake of mine own body. Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me. All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.

God Isolates His Children

Sometimes, like Job, you have no one left to turn to.  Everyone is against you.  God often isolates his children so that he can deal with them.  Job had no one left.  The brethren, his family, servants, strangers, wife, children, and friends all turned against him.  That was God’s will for his life.  God needed to take Job down a few notches so that he could finally get through the thick skin of pride, that Job had built up over the years.  If Job could have turned to others to help him, God would not have gotten the glory.

The Bible is Our Comfort in Isolation

Job did not have the word of God.  They say Job is the oldest book in the Bible.  He could not get comfort from the scriptures like you and I.  We do have the Bible.  We can look at it when all have forsaken us.  That is God’s way to really help.  He gets glory from that.  He wants to isolate you just like Job.  He is a jealous God.  He wants all of you.  Are you going to get upset when you cannot find comfort in friends and family, and instead, like Job, you must go to God alone?

Isolation From God

The bigger problem that Job had was that it went even one step further than being isolated from everyone in this world.  He was also isolated from God.  God would not answer his questions.  Job was earnestly trying to figure out what he did wrong. He was searching his heart.  The problem was, he was not getting to the root of the problem, his pride.  As a result, God had to keep dealing with him.  God had to withdraw himself so that he could help Job come to the end of himself.

When You Have No One Left

At times, when we are trying to figure out why we are going through troubles and trials, it will seem that God has withdrawn himself from us.  He will not answer our questions.  We cannot figure out why God keeps putting us through trials.  It seems like all we have is the Word of God.  So, if you are going to make it through, you just need to dig into that word and find the answers needed.  God will speak through the scriptures as you search them. You will be all alone at times.  But God is in the background, just like Job, guiding and directing, as he tries to grow you.  When you have no one left, that is when God can often help the most.
