Lord, please do not forsake me completely! There are many times in our lives where the Lord has every right to just bail on us.
Psalms 119:8 I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly.
Do Not Forsake Me
Lord, please do not forsake me completely! There are many times in our lives where the Lord has every right to just bail on us. But He remembers back to those times when we stuck by him when it was hard and then has mercy on us. As we try to keep God’s laws, though feeble be the effort, it helps the Lord not to want to give up on us. David was trying to tell God that he will stick with Him. He is just asking God to give him a little more time. He wants God to not be disgusted with Him. He is just asking God to just not totally turn His back on him.
Hope
When someone forsakes us or totally leaves us, it can crush the human heart. But when there is hope that they will stick with us, even when we have failed them, it renews and restores hope. So it is with God. We have a promise in the Word of God that He will never leave us or forsake us. That will bring us hope. The Bible says that hope deferred makes the heart sick. God wants us to keep hope in Him. He does not want to leave us and we have hope that he will always be there for us.
The Church
God stick’s up for his people Israel, even when they are not always doing right. He may have put them aside for a time, but He has never forsaken them. God may be disgusted with the state of the church in America, but there is still a remnant out there that wants to serve God in this nation. He will always stick by His bride. He has espoused her and will not give up on her. He loves her. Christ loves the church. He gave His life for it. So should we. We should not forsake the assembling of ourselves together. Church should be the most imo
