Deuteronomy 8:16-18 Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end; And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth. But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
Remembering the Lord God
Remembering the Lord God and where He brought us from is critical to our Christian walk. He is the one that gives us power to get wealth. Without the Lord you don’t work and make money such that you can give to the Lord’s work. When we start thinking it is by our own power that we may have gotten wealth, we are proud and knowing nothing. It is God that feed the children of Israel manna in the wilderness and it is He he feeds us today. The fathers that died in the wilderness never learned the lesson that God provided for them. They only learned to blame Moses for everything bad God did and they would forget everything good God did do. That is like us. We quickly forget the good God does
The Latter End
We often do not live with the latter end in mind as we walk through life. God wants to first humble us. He wants us to not think highly of ourselves and esteem others better than we are. He will put you through trials to see just how humble you really are. When we stay humble, we will live in light of eternity each and every day. When we do this we can live with the latter end in mind.
