Psalms 8:3-4 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

The Heavens of Old

The heavens of old have been around for 6000 years.  God used his fingers to make the moon and the stars we see today.  If you want to knock yourself back down to size, just go outside and look at the night time sky and it will help.  It is amazing to me that the Lord puts such a value on you and me.  He did not die for the dogs and cats.  He did not die for the moon and stars.  He died for fallen man.  Not only did he die for us and pay for our sins, he gave us eternal life and fellowship with Him.  He visits us every day if we are willing.  Do you come to Him in humble prayer and seek His face each day?  Do you commune with Him throughout the day?  You should.  He choose man to fellowship with over all of His creation.

The Environmentalist

The environmentalist have it all wrong.  There is an importance and ordering of God creatures and man is at the top of the list.  He gave man dominion over all of His creatures and all of His creation.  The problem is when man does not worship the true God, he begins to worship the creation instead.  He puts the spotted owl before man and we start to get the order of God’s dominion wrong.  The creatures are for the benefit of man and not the other way around.  Yes we are to be good stewards of God’s creation but the creation should not rule over and control man.  Have you considered the heavens of old and been amazed that God would pick you and choose you for fellowship with all your sin?  God has been good to us.  We have no right to complain.
