The Church That Cares For Your Soul

The Mercies of the Lord

The mercies of the Lord are many in our lives.  Often we fail to recognize them due to our often complaining spirit.

Psalms 89:1 Maschil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the mercies of the Lord for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.

The Mercies of the Lord

The mercies of the Lord are many in our lives.  Often we fail to recognize them due to our often complaining spirit.  Sometimes if we would just tally up all the blessings and compare them to the few trials and troubles, in reality we would come out on the plus side.  The biggest mercy we have is being saved.  As you talk to people in this world, you soon figure out how few people are truly born again and have a heart-felt relationship with the Lord.  Why did the Lord come by and find you and me, dig us out from the rock under which He found us, and then set our feet on the solid rock of Jesus Christ?  That should be enough to put you in the plus column for all time and eternity.  But the reality is we all have a lot more blessings and mercies than just salvation.  The Lord may have given you a good church, a good pastor, a good spouse, a good friend, etc.  You have a lot to be thankful for, even if there is some cross you must bear each and every day.  That cross is even a blessing because it certainly draws you closer to the Lord.

Faithfulness to All Generations

The Lord has been faithful to generation after generation of His people. We can know that someone before us has gone through the same trials and troubles we have gone through and made it by the Lord’s faithfulness.  There is no temptation that has taken you but such as is common to man.  But God is faithful is he not?  He will not tempt you more than you are able to bear.  God has been faithful to get our brothers and sisters through many trials far worse than we have been through.  I have never seen someone burned at the stake.  He has given them mercies and He will give us mercies too.  It is because he is a faithful God.  He will never leave us or forsake us.  He is faithful to all generations, including our generation in the 21st century.  It is going to get bad before the Lord comes back.  We know that from reading the Bible.  But he will still be faithful and still give us mercies, even in the worst of trials and tribulations.  Let Him show His faithfulness in your life.  Thank Him for the mercies you have received.
