Ruth 2:12 The Lord recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.
The Wing of Trust
Boaz wanted to make sure to comfort Ruth in her time of trouble. He could tell from her countenance and attitude that she had a good spirit and a walk with God. He believed that God was going to reward her for her faithfulness. She did not act foolishly like some of the other young people. Boaz believed that the Lord would reward her favor toward Naomi as well. He saw she was concerned about her mother-in-law. Most of all, Boaz saw a faith and trust of the Lord in Ruth.
Ruth – A Good Example
As a young man, you should look for a woman with the characteristics of Ruth. She worked hard. She was not lazy. She got up early and did what it took to feed her family. She did not complain about her plight of coming back to nothing in Bethlehem. She just rolled up her sleeves and got to work gathering barley. She wanted to have a godly husband but she knew her prospects were dim of ever having one when she left Moab. Naomi made it clear she would not likely have any more sons. Ruth just trusted the wing of trust that she came under. She knew she could trust the protection of the Lord. That is the kind of woman you want to marry as a young man. One that is full of faith. Boaz knew a good woman when he saw one, even if she grew up in a heathen’s home. God is concerned with the heart, not where we came from. He is concerned with the end and not the beginning. Ruth did not start out good in Moab serving false idols but she ended up good serving the King of Kings.
