Ecclesiastes 9:16-18 – Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools. Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good.
Wisdom is better than a gun. Having a lot of military strength and might does not mean you can use it properly. There have been, and still exists, plenty of despots in this world who have lead nations as dictators, that have destroyed through strength that is out of control. There are even “refined” leaders who have used a nations weapons of war to destroy much good. But all have one thing in common. They despise humble, Christian pastors and God’s men who have the words of God that could lead them through national tragedy. Like Ahab, they go about to kill God’s prophets when they do not seek to tell them they are good. Or they get their own “prophets” who try and tell them what they want to hear, even if it is a bunch of lies. That is where America is today. She has a strong military, but has no wisdom how to use it because we have rejected the God who established this nation. Sodomites and guns don’t mix.
Maybe the leaders of this nation will not hear the Words of God out in open, but it is possible they may be heard in quiet. One missionary I know that is trying to do this is Brad Wells in Washington D.C. He is quietly trying to reach congress men and women, staffers and others for the cause of Christ. Once they get saved, they can then get wisdom from a poor, humble preacher whose words may be despised but are sent from God. Fools can rant and rave all they want. Rulers will continue to listen to them because they are deceived. However, the wisdom of God’s man will one day be restored to this nation, even if it is only in the millienum. It would be a blessing to see a little revival in America, and then see the preachers and men of God of this nation elevated to a position of honor like they once were.
