Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. Romans10:1-4
There are those who go to church every Sunday, but like the Jews, they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. They are ignorant of God’s righteous that is in Jesus Christ. Keeping religious ceremonies or doing good to get to heaven is going about to establish or create your own righteousness. You have to get to heaven God’s way or not at all. Someone can be very zealous and fervent in what they believe, however, if that zeal is misdirected or placed in the wrong thing, it is worthless.
It takes submission to God’s righteous to be saved. Submission means you have to give up or surrender what you think is right and give in to what the Bible says is right. That is not always an easy thing to do. We as humans tend to be pretty proud and do not like to admit we are wrong. The Jews discussed in this verse did not want to admit they were wrong. Christ is the end of the law. Christ is the end of you trying make your own righteousness. For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. There is none that is righteous of himself. You get saved by grace or you don’t get saved. It is not of works because you would just boast about it. Christ came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Make sure your zeal is in the right place today. Make sure it is trusting in Christ’s righteous and not your own. Christ died on the cross and rose from the dead nearly 2000 years ago. He fulfilled the law so you and I don’t have to. He arose victorious over sin and death. I have eternal life in Him. Praise the Lord for salvation full and free.
