Hebrews 6:12 That ye be not slothful but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
“Slothfulness is a great consumer of time, you lose not only all the time when duty is omitted, but much of the time in which you perform it while you rid no work, and do it as if you did it not. He that goeth but a mile an hour loseth his time, though he still be going, even as much as he that goeth two miles in one hour and sits still the next. Oh what abundance of their lives do idle persons lose! When time is gone, they better understand the greatness of their sin and loss, that now make light of it.” – Richard Baxter
Slothfulness Can Get You
Slothfulness can get us if we don’t watch out. We can waste alot of idle time doing worldly activities. The opposite of being slothful, in the biblical sense, is being a faithful follower of Christ and patiently making your way towards heaven and your inheritance. You can be slothful concerning the Lord’s work by doing alot of worldly activities. If you are not doing what you are supposed to be doing you are slothful.
Getting Up is Hard
Getting up in the morning is hard for me. Doing consistently what I need to do is hard. This flesh wants to wind down. The whole world wants to wind down. We have work for the master that needs to be done. The flesh likes to sleep and stay in bed. At times you need to get after the day, read your Bible, and pray. Are you going to let the flesh win or the Lord?
Tis one life and twill soon be past, and only what’s done for Christ will last.
