Psalms 37:7 – Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
2 Corinthians 11:26 – In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
Wickedness seems to be abounding at a much more rapid pace. Man is coming up with more and more wicked devices. In Paul’s day he was surrounded by the wickedness of Rome. They were a brutal and licentious nation much like America. We may not have coliseums and gladiators but we do have mega sports complexes and the WWF. We are just as wicked and if revival does not happen, we are headed for the same fate as Rome.
Psalms 37 says when you are in the the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, you are not to fret but rather to wait patiently for the Lord to take care of it. Paul went through all kinds of torture by the hand of the government. II Corinthians 11 put Paul in the Who’s Who of Tortured Saints. Most Christians now a days would have quit long before Paul. Paul did not try and fix the problems of Rome. He just preached the gospel to the Gentiles faithfully.
We are not going to “fix” America by trying to legislate righteousness. Paul did not bother and neither should we. Only a Holy Ghost revival is going to fix America. You can’t fix a national sin problem from the outside, it has to start with the inside. It has to start at the heart, at the soul. Revival is God’s means of fixing national problems of sin. We need to see sinners get saved. We need to see people truly humbled for their wickedness. We need to see an outpouring of the Holy Ghost that will cause men to repent and come to the Lord. Let’s pray for revival.
