Isaiah 54:5-6 – For thy Maker is thine husband; the Lord of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called. For the Lord hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God.
The sad reality is there is a lot of divorce that goes on among God’s children. It seems like the men are the ones who usually turn tail and run and leave their women. These women end up forsaken by man and grieved in spirit as these verses say. They are refused by man, often getting divorced at an early age with their whole life before them. But God says he will be a husband to those refused by man. If you have lost a husband through the tragedy of divorce, the Lord will take up the slack. This verse says God will be your husband.
You have a calling according to this verse. That calling is to be a wife to God. You may or may not get married again, but in the mean time you are to draw close to the Lord. You need to treat God and love God like you would a husband. You can take a problem like this and draw closer to God through it. You will need to get in the Word more. You need to draw nigh to God even more. Don’t get out of church. If you have children, they need it just as much as you do. You may feel out of place at times, but never forget that thy Maker is thine husband.
God looks out for those forsaken by man. He takes care of and provides for them in many ways. He makes up for the lack of having a man in the house through other men in the church often. God looks out for these forsaken women. Also, we in the church should also look out for those who have been through divorce. Maybe try and help some of these children from broken homes. The church has a responsibility to widows and this is very similar.
God has a purpose in all that He does. He can even work through the tragedy of divorce. God thy maker is thine husband.
