The loins are the middle section of the body and are the strength of a man. The loins are girt or are held up with truth in the Christian.
Ephesians 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Exodus 1:5 And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt already.
A Girdle Provides Strength
A girdle is used to strengthen the loins and protect it. The loins are the place of a man’s strength and his ability to lift. In the Old Testament it shows the loins are the place of a man’s ability to reproduce. Seventy souls came out of Jacobs’s loins according to Ex. 1:5. This shows it is not just sons and daughters but even grandchildren and great grandchildren that come from a man’s loins. Our offspring are our strength. People can tell a lot about you by your children.
Strong Christians Use Truth in the Bible
We see then that the girdle is a piece of armor that provides strength to the Christian through truth. When we use the truths of the Word of God, we become stronger and more useful Christian soldiers. If you do not know and apply the Word of God regularly, you are a weak and useless Christian. How are you going to be able to teach others? How can you grow if you do not have strong loins of truth?
Honesty is the Best Policy
Honesty is the best policy with God. God hates liars. He loves the truth. A Christian is not going to grow if he is a liar. You need to first come clean with yourself. Admit when you sin. Admit when the preaching hits you between the eyes. Next you should tell the truth. Painting the picture so things look better than what they are or giving people a false impression is lying. Lying and pride go hand in hand. People lie to make themselves look better than they really are. Nobody wants to admit they are a sinner. Nobody wants to admit when they are caught in a lie. Just tell the truth.
Standing Fast
A Christian needs to stand fast. You need to stick by the truth and convictions God has revealed to you. Backing up is not holding the ground you have gained in victory of battles past. It takes just as much effort to keep ground as it did to capture and gain in the first time. Stick by what you know is right. Stand fast.
