The Lord is looking for a willing spirit in us anytime something needs to be done to accomplish His work. When the Jews built the tabernacle, first they had to come or be available.
Exodus 35:21 And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and they brought the Lord’s offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments.
A Willing Spirit
The Lord is looking for a willing spirit in us anytime something needs to be done to accomplish His work. When the Jews built the tabernacle, first they had to come or be available. The Lord is not going to use anyone who does not make themselves available. Once you make yourself available, then the Lord can stir your heart to accomplish the task. After your heart is stirred, then your spirit can be made willing. None of that is going to happen unless the Holy Ghost moves on you and calls you to accomplish the task at hand. I would like to first focus on making your spirit willing. We make our spirit willing by allowing the Lord to work in our lives. Sometimes the Lord makes us willing by taking us through trials and tribulations. With the children of Israel, they just needed a few plagues and maybe some hornets to get them to want to move on their own.
Making Us Willing
The Lord makes us willing or changes our heart through circumstances at times when we fight against Him. The children of Israel were not too interested in leaving Egypt 40 years earlier the first time Moses tried to lead them out. They needed a little more suffering and trials. Things were not quite bad enough at the time for them. They did not want to give up their comfortable life in Egypt with the leeks and the melons. Forty years and Pharaoh is working them sun up to sun down with poor materials. The childnren of Israel slowly start to change their minds and began to cry out to the Lord. The Lord “made” them willing to follow Him. The same is true of us. We rarely take the easy road and just go when the Lord first calls us. Instead with have to become slaves to this world before we become willing. The Lord had a job of building a tabernacle. When it came time to do it, the children of Israel’s hearts were completely changed. Many hearts were stirred and spirits were willing to help out. That happened through troubles and trials. The same is true of us today if we are going to have changed hearts and a willing spirit.

“They did not want to give up their ‘comfortable life'”… This seems to common among Christians today.
